Because of the convenient buses and airlines that make traveling in Peru very straightforward, three weeks is a great period. Here is a daily Peru Travel Guide. Discover the travel locations of the attractions of this route on our Peru map.
Lima, Day 1 – 3
Welcome to Lima, Peru’s capital. This modern innovative city constructed along Peru’s picturesque coastline is a terrific place to start your trip. Wander about in the artist district Barranco, bike around the city and shoreline, and try Peru’s national cuisine ‘Ceviche’.
Day 4: Paracas – A one-of-a-kind Peruvian travel experience
Every day, one of the most remarkable nature occurrences takes place on Paracas’ Ballestas Islands. A million sea gulls torpedo into the water in an attempt to catch the fish at the surface that the sea lions are hunting.
Paracas is a small, laid-back backpacker community where you can spend the night before embarking on a tour of the Paracas National Reserve and sampling Pisco wines.
History of Hacienda San Jose in Peru
Stop at the magnificent Hacienda San Jose on your trip to Paracas. A 9-kilometer-long tunnel system beneath the house was used to smuggle Africans to labor on farms and avoid paying taxes. It is possible to go within the tunnels and learn about the fairly grim history that occurred here.
5th and 6th days: Huacachina
The highest sand dunes in South America surround a little lagoon surrounded by lush-green palm palms. Huacachina, a unique occurrence, must be included in your Peru vacation itinerary. So enjoy the sunset from the top of the dune, take a sand buggy tour around the desert, and stay the night.
7th – 9th day: Arequipa
Arequipa, Peru’s second-largest city, is surrounded by volcanoes. It is frequently overlooked because the majority of tourists only visit Machu Picchu. Arequipa is a beautiful and attractive city that is ideal for exploring on foot. Its white colonial buildings in the historical center give the impression that you are travelling through Europe.
Cusco (Days 10 – 12)
Cusco serves as the entry point to the Sacred Valley and Macchu Picchu. This quaint tiny cobblestone-street settlement is located at an elevation of 3.200 meters, which will take some getting accustomed to. Cusco, on the other hand, is a magnificent city with stunning architecture, cathedrals, museums, and some of the best restaurants in the country!
Sacred Valley on Day 13
After acclimatizing in Cusco, see the breathtaking Sacred Valley. Visit the Moray circular terraces, Pisac, the Maras Salt Mines, and Ollantaytambo. Finally, from Ollantaytambo, take the train to Aguas Calientes, often known as Machu Picchu town. Spending the night at Aguas Calientes allows you to wake up early and see the dawn over Machu Picchu.
Day 14: Machu Picchu – Peru travel highlight
Rise and shine early because today is the pinnacle of your three-week Peru trip! Machu Picchu, the once-lost Incan metropolis perched above a mountain, is best experienced at daybreak. Spend the morning exploring this breathtaking location, and don’t forget to collect the passport stamp as a last prize for visiting Machu Picchu.
